United Faculty has confirmed that the 2025–2026 contingency payment negotiated under the current Collective Bargaining Agreement is now reflected in faculty pay.
Full-time faculty employed during the 2025–2026 academic year should see two adjustments on their most recent paycheck: a one-time off-schedule payment of $2,489.00, and an on-schedule salary increase of 2.

United Faculty used Fall 2026 Flex to deliver two coordinated training sessions at NOCE, Cypress, and Fullerton: a UF Structure and Grievance Essentials training, and a New Faculty Development session for members joining the bargaining unit.

Faculty governance in the North Orange County Community College District runs on three distinct-but-overlapping tracks. The Joint Collaborative Consultation Understanding (JCCU) is a non-binding agreement among five faculty governance bodies in the District: the Cypress College Academic Senate, the Fullerton College Faculty Senate, the North Orange Continuing Education Academic Senate, United Faculty (CCA / CTA / NEA), and Adjunct Faculty United (AFT / CFT).

The Representative Council meets at least once per month during the academic year. Meetings are open to all UF members; Active members of the chapter have the right to attend and observe. Business is conducted by elected Representatives or seated Alternates.

United Faculty and the North Orange County Community College District reached a Tentative Agreement (TA) on the 2025-2026 reopener negotiations. The TA was presented to the Representative Council for approval to move forward, then to the full membership for a ratification vote. The signed agreement covers changes to Article 13 (Leaves) and Article 20 (Salary — additional duty days).

Governor Newsom signed the final 2026-27 California state budget on June 29, 2026. The Community College League of California called it "one of the most successful in recent history for California Community Colleges.

For more than sixty years, California's community colleges have operated under the 50% Law, a statutory requirement that districts spend at least half of their unrestricted general funds on instructional costs — the faculty salaries and classroom resources that are the core of what our colleges do. AB 2121 (Berman) would put the first meaningful crack in that protection.

CTA and CCA host professional development on a Bargaining / Advocacy / Membership cycle, plus winter Bargaining and Grievance Academies in alternating years. United Faculty can send 9 delegates to every CTA conference and may apply for additional CCA developmental grants to send more.

Sharon Hendricks was elected Vice Chair of the California State Teachers' Retirement System (CalSTRS) Teachers' Retirement Board at the Board's May 2026 meeting. Chair Denise Bradford, an elementary teacher from Saddleback Valley Unified School District, was re-elected to her third term as Chair.

The California State Auditor released a comprehensive review of the 50% Law in April 2025 (Report 2023-126, "Oversight of the 50 Percent Law Is Ineffective"). The findings underscore why FACCC, CCA, and CTA have been so protective of the law's integrity — and why the current fight over AB 2121 (see the companion article on AB 2121) is not an abstract debate.
