The Community College Association (CCA) is calling on California lawmakers to include full funding for part-time faculty office hours in the 2026-27 State Budget.
Part-time faculty teach a large share of community college courses. Paid office hours give them the time to meet with students, answer questions, and provide the support that helps students succeed. Last year, after members spoke up, the Legislature included full funding for these office hours. CCA is asking members to make the same case again this year.
Why it matters:
- Paid office hours recognize the work part-time faculty already do to support students.
- Steady funding protects a service that directly benefits student success.
- Member voices made the difference last year and can again.
CCA President Jon Ausubel urged members to contact the State Budget Committee and ask legislators to fully fund part-time office hours, calling it a matter of "the funding our colleges need and the services our students deserve."
